Pears in Wine Sauce | Simple to prepare in advance. |
Serves 8
Ingredients1 cup of sugar
4 slices of lemon
4 sticks of cinnamon
8 pears, peeled, halved and cored
1/2 cup of dry red wine
Preparation1. Combine the sugar with 4 cups of water in a saucepan.
2. Bring to the boil, add the lemon slices, cinnamon &pears
3. Reduce the heat, cover and let simmer for 10 minutes
4. Add the wine.
5. Remove the pears, bring the liquids to a light boil and let the sauce thicken to a syrup-like consistency.
6. Return the pears to the syrup and let stand, covered, in the refrigerator.
7. Cut the pears in slices and arrange on dessert plates with syrup on top.
